I'm joining in on Lisa-Jo baker's 'Five Minute Friday'.
The rules are pretty simple. One word. Five minutes of writing. No editing.
When I saw this word... pictures is all I could see.
My husband.

The guy who created sliced bread... actually I don't know who that was, it might have been a woman.
My family.
My friends.
Our dogs.

So many hold a spot of being a hero, animals, things, from the very big to the very small. There are so many instances where one person puts on the super hero cape in my mind. They might not even notice that they are putting on the cape but to me they have. That imaginary cape. The one that sparkles even when it's a cloudy day.
There are men and women out there that wear a cape day in and day out. Battling one thing or another. We don't always see it. Sometimes, just sometimes if you tilt you head just right you might see that person wearing their cape with that accomplished worn out smile. You know, the one that the single Momma wears after she has worked a full day, done laundry, made dinner, read a story, gotten everyone to bed and she has one hour of quiet time before she has to get to bed before she starts it all over at the crack of dawn. Or the one that the construction worker wears, after he has worked four, tens at his second site, just so he can send his sister some money to pay on her medical bills. Or that little boy, who just came in from recess not shedding a tear from being picked on the whole time. Or that older man who sits down on his front porch after getting off the phone with the hospital, his wife has lost her battle to cancer, trying to remind himself that she isn't in pain anymore. Or that young girl that is quietly battling with anorexia, she ate breakfast and lunch today.
We all wear our capes.
Tilt your head a little today and remember we all have our own battles.
Let your cape shine, you deserve it because you are a hero in someone's eyes.
Yes - so many people living intentionally in ways that are heroic. When we give of ourselves and when we fight for justice, it is such a blessing and it requires His strength to keep going. May hearts be encouraged to seek Him and live heroic lives along the way.
