Grace

I'm joining in on Lisa-Jo baker's 'Five Minute Friday'.
The rules are pretty simple. One word. Five minutes of writing. No editing.

Grace.

How do you day grace? It comes is so many forms.

Our children use this prayer before meals.
God is great.
God is good.
Let us thank him for our food.
By his hands we all are fed.
Thank you God for our daily bread.
Amen.

My Grandma always always payed the Lord's prayer.
Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.

To me, the Lord just wants to hear your voice. To hear you. To know you are thinking of him as he is always thinking of you. He wants more but he loves that 2 seconds of refraining from diving into a meal and acknowledging him.

We say grace before every meal, this includes when we are out at a restaurant. One evening our family and friends went out to dinner. As we sat down and held hands we said grace. A table near by heard and they paid for our families meal. We didn't find out until after they had left and the waitress came and told us. She said they wanted to pay for it because it's not to often that you see a family pray before a meal. Every time I think of that moment it brings tears. For many reasons. We were blessed, but so was everyone around us. The family that paid for our meal, the waitress and the tables around us. Sometimes even our grace can be grace to others.

  1. That was lovely. I just love that God showed your family grace because you said grace before your meal. Grace - unmerited favor. I would call that favor. ;) Love it! Be blessed!

  2. This is lovely. We (me included) so often magnify the complex concept of grace over the simple expression of what you speak of here. I appreciate the reminder of the simple yet sincere. Thanks
