Write

I'm joining in on Lisa-Jo baker's 'Five Minute Friday'.
The rules are pretty simple. One word. Five minutes of writing. No editing.

The past few days we have had snow days! I remember way back when, waiting to see your school name scroll across the bottom of the screen. SNOW DAY! The excitement! Oh man and if you found out you didn't have school the next day BEFORE you got your homework done that was like a double score! A snow day on a Friday, even better!

I write all this as we celebrate our fourth snow day in a row. There are toys scattered everywhere. There are snacks being eaten that really shouldn't be, but it's a snow day. Everything seems to be okay on a snow day.

We brought the air mattress out in the middle of the living room. Built a fire in the fireplace and watched a movie or two or three.

We bundle up to go play in the snow for five minutes just to unbundle and be inside for ten minutes. To then bundle back up and play outside for ten minutes and unbundle to be inside for five minutes. This has been going on for days. The wet footprints tracking to the hot cocoa and then the bundle of outside clothes.

Trying to write this down, capture these moments in a few words, in a few minutes. I don't think I'm really good enough for that challenge. Yet, I have to try. I want to write as best I can about the moments, the truths, the not so great moments that I've learned from. It's not perfect, my writing or my moments but that's how it is.

Sam (8)- I like to write.
Lou (7)- I wrote an Angry Birds book.
Rian (4)- Write me up.

  1. I just love this. We still have snow on the ground where I live with more coming Monday Tuesday. Your children has cute sayings about writing. Thankful for your take on this.

  2. Snow days are great, especially here in Oregon! I clicked on your blog from Lisa-Jo's site, and learned that you are also an Oregonian. Go ducks! Enjoy the snow while it lasts...
