I'm joining in on Lisa-Jo baker's 'Five Minute Friday'.
The rules are pretty simple. One word. Five minutes of writing. No editing.
I grew up in a family of six. My Momma came from a family of seven and my Dad a family of six. My Grandparents all coming from families of six of seven. Our family gatherings are BIG! And I LOVE IT! There is always someone there that you can chat with, someone to go to or listen to.
At school when people would ask how many brothers or sisters I had they would be astounded at how many there was in my family. I didn't feel ashamed, still don't. I felt sorry for the kid that was an only child or only had one sister or brother. That had to suck! No one to talk to about how unfair Mom or Dad was being. Or better yet no one to talk to about how stinky your brother is.
Please don't misunderstand me, now as an adult I understand that maybe that family was blessed with one child and what a blessing that child is. I understand too that some families are blessed with being Aunties and Uncles maybe by choices or maybe just because that's how it is.
For me personally, I love my big family. Don't get me wrong, I don't know that I would have the patience for 21 kids, bless you parents out there that do! For now I get the privilege of saying our family is growing! Yep, I'm sharing with my Five Minute Friday blogging friends. Our family of five is growing to a family of six!
We are a crowd and I wouldn't have it any other way because wherever one or more is gathered there He will be.
This also brings out a question... any good sickness remedies that you want to share I am gladly accepting :)
WE'RE HAVING A BABY! EeeeeKkkkkk!!!!
Aw, congratulations!!!!!!!!!! We planned for a family of 4, but God has blessed us beyond belief. We are a happy crowd of 6 now and I have to say, 4 kids is the BEST! I love it.
ReplyDeleteMorning/all day sickness is the worst. The only thing I could eat with my oldest was brown sugar poptarts! The one thing that really helped was sucking on mints. Oh, and I ate toast with peanut butter, because it wasn't quite as awful to lose.
Very happy for you!! May God bless your growing family!
YAY!!! I grew up in a family of five kids and I absolutely LOVED the pace, the noise and the FUN. Big Families Rock. :) Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! Unfortunately no great advice on the sickness. Different things have helped each time, but nothing consistent.
